Inducing pups in Trichocereus, guaranteed.

A few years ago I stumbled upon an extremely easy to do, 100% guaranteed method of inducing Trichocereus to branch, or pup as it commonly known. The only other real 100% effective method that I know of is just to wait until it eventually happens by itself, but obviously you wouldn't be reading this unless you wanted to hurry up the process. So, let me introduce you to what I call The Lean Technique, which is really as simple as it sounds, all you have to do is get your plant to lean, without falling over or snapping. Obviously this is easiest to achieve with cuttings in pots, but can be applied to plants in the ground and seedlings etc. By putting your plant on a lean, as pictured below, you will stimulate the plants natural inclination to try and balance itself as it wants to grow upwards towards the sun. Now, the only way your plant will be able to do this is to produce branches opposite to the lean. It's really that simple. I noticed this purely by accident as a cutting I had planted had been knocked by my dog, as evidenced by the fur still sticking in the spines and was leaning at around a 60 degree angle, which I never got around to correcting. I just let it go and it produced pups opposite the lean to balance itself. After making this observation, I decided to see if it could be repeated, and sure enough the exact same thing happened every time I tried it. So, there you go, the easy 100% guaranteed Lean Technique for inducing pups in Trichocereus cacti, have at it.

PS: This will probably by my last post on this blog as to be honest I moved on from all this a long time ago and have far better things to do with my time, I just thought I'd give one more little freebie to the community before saying goodbye forever. In the last few years I've been able to start a family, pay off two houses and basically retire from ever having to work for anyone else ever again. Very soon I will be buying a farm, taking it off grid and making it entirely self sufficient. That and my family will take up all my time and interest from here on out. I'll leave the whole online tricho world to everyone else. Thank you to all the people who read this blog, I hope you got something worthwhile out of it.
