One thing I have found to be a consistent problem with Trichocereus collectors on the internet, is making themselves out to be supposed experts, the problem being that they quite often do not actually grow very many plants or only have a bunch of small plants. You see this all the time with online groups and forums, people that really don't know what they're talking about at all, pretending they do. One of the biggest problems with the internet is the amount of really bad information being spread. That, does not help anyone at all, quite the opposite. 

One thing I can guarantee you is that if someone does not actually grow a lot of these plants for a long period of time, if they just look at other peoples pictures on the internet, then they really do not know what they're talking about. A picture can never truly capture a plant, to really know it, you have to grow it. That is for sure. You can read all the different websites, blogs like this and watch all the videos but that will only get you so far. Knowing something in theory, will never beat knowing something in practice. If you want to know if someone actually has any kind of clue as to what they are talking about, ask to see how many plants they are growing.

I do not claim to be an expert, in fact I go out of my way to avoid that. I am not the authority on these plants and I really don't want to be. I know I don't know everything. These plants always surprise me and do the unexpected. I am always learning and will only continue to do so. I've been around more than long enough to know there are no real experts or authorities on the internet, despite what some people claim. I'm an enthusiast. There are a lot of old growers and people who have been doing this a lot longer than me, that grow more plants than me and no doubt know a lot more than I do. I've got nothing but respect for them. Is why I like to interview people who are experts in their fields and report back as a researcher and writer.

I am not doing this for money, like so many people who have tried to set themselves up as the expert or authority, and then ask for "donations." I see this all the time now, with websites, youtube channels, plastic shaman retreat centers and fake ceremonies etc etc. I give away everything on this blog for free. I don't want anything from any of you. My motivations are out of pure love for these plants and wanting to help people with the experience that I have, not money. The very last thing I am going to do is use people, their hard work and then put my hand out like I did something that deserves your hard earned money. I find that sickening.

I think it's fine that people are trying to make businesses out of selling plants and seed, really don't have a problem with that at all. If you've gone out there and done the hard yards, visited a bunch of gardens and/or scoured the native habitat for seed, grown these plants to maturity and then sell some cuttings and seed, good on you! Nothing but respect for that, you've earned it. Middle men who grow little to nothing and buy low to sell high I do have a problem with. Especially if they are making themselves out to be some sort of authority, making up lies about plants and their potency to sell them, naming every bloody clone as if it is something special, pretending to be shaman and the like, just generally being dishonest. That disgusts me, and it happens all the time these days..

Unfortunately I had at least two hundred plants stolen from me a few years ago and had to move a few times, but I think I'm still going alright. Not all of these guys are in the best condition at the moment but I'm hoping to move to a larger property very soon where I can take better care of them and make the garden of my dreams. How I'm going to move them all now I have no idea, but there's worse problems to have. Here's some pictures of what I am growing, there's still a few Trichocereus species that have alluded me, but I'll hunt them all down eventually. Enjoy~*
